Saturday's open day was a real success. Plenty of garden lovers came to see the little oasis in the hotel at No.1 Pery Square. The Limerick GIY group made up the bulk of visitors which was great as their enthusiasm is real and infectious. Good to be part of it all. In this pic I'm demonstrating how to plant garlic in a wine box, not a full one!
Taking runners from the strawberries, now is a good time to do this
We planted kale, spinach and over-wintering onion sets in the raised bed
Eileen from Banemore Organic Garden brought along some produce and seedlings to share
We're still waiting for tomatoes to ripen but have red cabbage, runner beans, parsnips and courgettes still coming on
We had some lovely, local apples from Askeaton and we planted a heritage variety apple tree from Seedsavers Ireland, so in a few years, the hotel will have its own apples
One of the more unusual herbs, chocolate mint
A handsome, city cabbage
Thanks to Anthony Furlong for taking all the photos, and helping with the watering!
